Hyundai Reports Sales Gain for April

Hyundai Motor America recently announced that the company sold 63,050 vehicles in April 2017, a gain of 1 percent over April of 2016. The company saw its best April results for combined crossover utility vehicles and sport utility vehicles, as well as increased demand for the Tucson, Sonata, Elantra and Santa Fe models.

The Tucson model set an all-time sales mark for monthly sales, with 9,952 vehicles sold representing an increase of 29 percent for the month. Elantra accounted for 16,346 vehicles sold, a gain of 32 percent compared to last April. Sales for the Santa Fe family of vehicles were up 33 percent on sales of 9,480 vehicles. The 2018 Sonata introduction is being moved up to accommodate demand, as the model sold 16,294 vehicles in April for an improvement of 7 percent.

Hyundai also reported that consumer consideration and brand opinion reached all-time highs in the first quarter of 2017, while the company continues to increase dealer inventory of the highly-anticipated all-new Ioniq family of vehicles.

In a press release, said Derrick Hatami, Vice President of National Sales, Hyundai Motor America, stated, “Consumers are finding that within the heart of the Hyundai lineup there is a vehicle ideally suited for their needs and lifestyles. Hyundai’s car-to-CUV/SUV mix is improving and our ‘Better Than Ever Sales’ event is increasing consumer demand for Hyundai cars.”
