Two Hyundai Models Named Design Excellence Awards Finalists

Last month, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) announced the list of finalists for their 2017 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), and Hyundai was proud to place both the 2018 Sonata and 2018 Elantra GT were both named to the slate of vehicles. The premier design competition is judged based on the following criteria: design excellence, design innovation, aesthetics and benefit to the user, client and society.

The 2018 Sonata boasts numerous design changes that align the vehicle with the company's new design ethos. A bolder exterior offers precise and sophisticated styling, as a new grille pairs with LED daytime running lights and a sculpted hood for a sportier appearance. Inside, the center stack offers larger features, while the audio and ventilation controls offer a more premium feel.

The Elantra GT takes a more aggressive stance in the 2018 model year, with a cascading grille and precise lines. The interior features rich surfaces and a roomy, airy space that's laid out to offer intuitive styling and driving dynamics.

In a press release, Sangyup Lee, Head of Hyundai Styling, said, “We are building a variety of charismatic characters for each segment to make Hyundai Motor to be the most loved brand in the automotive industry. Hyundai Motor will keep developing more distinctive and creative design."
