U.S. Version of the 2018 Hyundai Kona Debuts at the LA Auto Show

At last week's Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai unveiled the production version of its Kona crossover SUV (CUV) that will be sold throughout the United States. Designed to appeal to car shoppers who lead busy, active lives, the Kona rides on an all-new platform and features an aggressive, armor-like exterior that sits low and wide for greater handling.

Featuring LED headlights, taillights and daytime running lights, the Kona is propelled by a standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that teams with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There's also an available 1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injected engine that pairs to a 7-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) to offer greater power and shifting efficiency.

In this day and age, it's nearly mandatory that a vehicle offer a touchscreen infotainment system. Well, the Kona doesn't disappoint, as it features a standard floating touchscreen that features Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability. Now it's easier than ever to access your music, maps, contacts and more!

In a press release, Mike O’Brien, vice president of Product, Corporate and Digital Planning, Hyundai Motor America, was quoted as saying, "Our new Kona crossover is a stylish and functional compact CUV, tailored to the needs of customers who pursue active lifestyles of all kinds. We’re confident it will set new standards for its segment, with appealing design, cutting-edge connectivity and class-leading available safety features."
