IIHS Bestows Top Safety Pick + Rating on Two Hyundai Models

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently gave both the 2017 Santa Fe and the 2017 Elantra "Top Safety Pick +" ratings, recognizing Hyundai's continued commitment to ensuring safety.

To earn the ratings, the vehicles had to receive good ratings in the five IIHS crash tests for small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. The vehicles also needed to earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention, while the headlights needed to be rated acceptable or good.

Elantra sedans built after March 2016 that feature optional front crash prevention and specific headlights earned the rating, while only Santa Fe models built after March 2016 that offer optional front crash prevention and specific headlights are rated Top Safety Pick+.

In addition to these two Hyundai vehicles earning the highest award possible from the institute, three other models earned an IIHS rating of "Top Safety Pick." The 2017 Hyundai Tucson, 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and 2017 Hyundai Sonata all also earned good ratings in the five IIHS crashworthiness tests and earned advanced or superior ratings for front crash prevention. Clearly, they're also worthy of consideration when one thinks of highly safe transportation.
