Autotrader Takes a Look at the 2018 Sonata

Recently, an Autotrader automotive expert reviewed the 2018 Hyundai Sonata and found that the midsize sedan boasts a refreshingly restyled exterior and updated suspension, among other enhancements.

Available in seven trim levels, the 2018 Sonata includes such standard features as 16-inch alloy wheels, dual folding power mirrors, automatic headlights, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist, seven airbags, tilt telescoping steering wheel, a 7-inch color touchscreen that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, rearview camera, and a six-speaker audio system with USB port.

it's important to note that one of the seven standard airbags is a driver's-knee airbag that's not usually offered standard. In addition to standard blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist, higher trim levels offer such available safety/driver assist features as lane keep assist, smart cruise control, automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams and Dynamic Bending Light. While the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn't crash tested the new Sonata, it did receive five stars for overall safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association.

There are three engines available for the 2018 Sonata roster. The SE, SEL, Sport and Limited trims are powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the Sport 2.0 and Limited 2.0 use a 2.0-liter 4 cylinder engine that teams to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Later this year, the Eco trim will feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that's mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
